Cultural Reporter #2

In my project I have decided to look at towns who have a population that is mostly white. This is the complete opposite of the town that I grew up in. In order to study this environment I plan to spend some time in a couple of these towns and I just recently went to one of them near my hometown. I plan to see how they interact with one another, as well as having some willing participants to take a survey on how they think they interact with others in their town and those from other towns with different population majorities. I would also like to know how they view themselves as well as others, and if they think their view of others is a result of the community they grew up in.
I think it would also be interesting to know if anyone has moved from different communities to another that is totally different from their own, with this I would like to know how they adjusted to this new place and if they experienced such things as culture shock. I think it would be interesting to look at new people to the community and see if they went through migrant-host relationships, such as assimilation, separation, integration, or maybe even marginalization. I think that we usually look at these phases only with people moving between countries but I think it can apply to moving between towns with different ethnic makeup.
